About Mark

Born: Mark Patrick Walton to Patsy Elmer and Junior Walton -- adopted by Step-Dad, Dave Madia

Birthplace: Evanston, Wyoming - born & raised

Favorite Music: Rock, Pop, Country,
A Cappella, Blues, Soul, Funk, Classical
-- I Love it All!

Favorite Bands: Queen, Electric Light Orchestra, Pat Benatar, Toto, Kansas, Boston, The Beatles, Night Ranger, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Diamond Rio, Styx,
Foo Fighters -- there's so many!

Favorite Vocalists: Freddie Mercury, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Pat Benatar, Linda Ronstadt

First song sang with "a Rock Band": "Strutter" by KISS, with my old pal, Reed Aaron in the Spring of 1979. Second? "China Grove" by The Doobie Brothers

Musicals: HMS Pinafore, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate (All in High School)
1940's Radio Hour (my favorite!) and My Fair Lady (again). Dream musical? Jesus Christ Superstar

Past Bands: Easy Money, then a pair of bands started by Rob Dunning (don't recall if they ever had names -- mostly "garage/party bands) Power Drive & The Basement Bandits. I had the distinct opportunity to sing with a plethora of touring bands booked at the Whirl Inn, where I was the club DJ for a period of 6 to 7 years -- my 25+ year broadcasting career was born from being asked to be the club DJ by my pal, Tim Lynch, the manager way back when, who booked bands and first brought BONE to Evanston at the Whirl...

First Interest in Music: My Mom tells me I could hear songs and sing them back at a very early age, as in, before I turned 3 -- songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon."

While I took part in most everything imaginable (a ton of athletics, drama, speech & debate, student government, choir) while attending a small school district, I only achieved an "All State" designation in Choir.

First Time on Stage: A 7th grade production of "Elmer and the Worm." In my freshman year, I performed a bunch of impressions and sang "Cat's In the Cradle" by Harry Chapin, and also performed "Mandy" by Barry Manilow, with Shane Goodwin accompanying me on piano. For our Freshman Graduation, Shane and I again teamed up for "I Write the Songs," but people began to make too much of a Madia-Manilow connection... ;)

Audio Bio with Video

The video clips and images in the video presentation to the right do not correlate with the audio narrative, but I produced this as an experiment, of sorts. I chronical my personal musical history with past bands and how I came to know (and began singing with) the original members of BONE in the 80s at the Whirl Inn in Evanston
